Friendly reminder that in A Storm of Swords, on their wedding night, while Tyrion was naked and aroused and Sansa was naked and terrified, she recalled her Septa’s words that “all men are beautiful in their own way” and tried to find the beauty in Tyrion.

You must see Highgarden! You’d love it there, I know you would. They have a great masquerade the night of the harvest moon. You should see the costumes, people work on them for months!

“Yeah I watch Game of Thrones”

“Sansa is so annoying though.”

This also applies to the books, of course.

Poster drawn by the very brilliant and talented illustrator Bubug for one of our projects at the “Pawn to Player: Rethinking Sansa” threads.

Bubug is consistently one of the finest asoiaf/sansan artists out there. Gorgeous!

If you think that the reason Sansa and Tyrion didn’t work out is because Sansa thought he was ugly there’s a 4000% chance that I hate you

“The reason I sympathise with Sansa so much is because I feel like as a 13 year old girl when I was playing her, being thrust into any situation like that’s so intimidating with everything you’ve ever wanted on the line and you’re only 13 and you’re so young and naive she’s so realistic that I would make exactly the same decisions. And I feel like no matter how much people would disagree with me I think if any of you were 13 year old girls put in that situation you would make exactly the same decisions. And that’s why I love her and I feel really protective of her because people criticise her but it’s like, “no you would do the same,” and she’s one of the most realistic characters I think and also I think she’s one of the most strong characters because she takes all this crap from Joffrey and from the court and she doesn’t fight back, she doesn’t say anything that could get killed for essentially. Because she’s learning all the time. she’s learned from her father’s death and so she’s gonna take it all and she’s taking it in her stride and I think one she might come back with this huge revenge plot but for now she’s being good about it and she’s being a 14 year old girl.” Sophie Turner on Sansa Stark: “How do you as an actress feel about Sansa?” - from The Stark Family Interview (via popcornandroses)

I was surfing through some 4chan archives, and came across a thread made by a GoT extra who was there at the filming of the above scene (where Joffrey has Sansa stripped and beaten in front of court). If he’s legit, which it seems like he is, it doesn’t sound like Sophie Turner had a double during this scene. Here’s what he had to say (NOTE: Some of his remarks are pretty awful and gross, particularly concerning Sophie, so I didn’t include those responses in this post):

So, I was an extra on Game of Thrones yesterday. Gotta say it was a fucking blast. The scene I was part of took place in the Throne room, which now has fires burning on each pillar. What basically happened in the scene was, King Joffrey verbally and phyiscally abused Sansa Stark and was about to have her beaten to a pulp, but was interupted by Tryion and Bronn, who verbally cut him down and saved Sansa. There was some dialogue by Lancel and a jester too (and other other less significant lines). I was a noble man, along with about 20 others, and our job was to react to the preceedings in very precise ways. It was facisinating and great fun but this one 3 minute scene took 12 FUCKING HOURS to shoot. We were all exhausted by the end. The actors were all friendly (especially the ones who played Lancel and Tyrion, who was hilarous) but obviously we couldn’t approach them on the set. Lancel, however did show me and a couple of others his specially made sword and armour backstage. He was friendly despite being bored, tired and having a bad cold. Anyways, sorry for the long and boring post but I’m just psyched about what a great day it was!
did sansa get her dress torn like in the books?
Yep she did, she was very good and crying and begging. It was quite uncomfortable to watch at first. Hilariously the actor who plays Joffrey has a friendly Irish accent
the reaction is laughter right? they were laughing in the books.
We laugh when the jester pretends to beat her but quickly stop when we realise the king isn’t laughing and then we all look astonished at Tyrion’s arrival and actions

Here we go, found the extra’s report. Yes, I remembered correctly, Dontos was there, but was cut before the televised version. And per Rory there was an “Enough” line too that was cut.
Motherfucker. It is beyond frustrating to know that more of Sansa’s storyline was filmed but they decided to cut it for whatever fucking reason. Especially if that includes her Dontos interactions and anything else that shows Sansa being active within her captivity. Fucking hell.

I am literally crying tears of frustration right now.
We get zero percent of the relationship between Sansa and Dontos, we barely get the relationship between Sansa and Sandor.
But thank god we got that mutli episode arc about Robb and Not!Jayne and all those boring sex scenes.
Thank god for those.
Like, can we just start a kickstarter to raise money so that we can all take a trip to hbo headquarters and quietly wait in D&D office until they come in so we can all shout in unison, “YOU NEED TO STOP.”
